TL;DR Get there before the Green Drakes are gone

Lots of these guys around, and they are looking up
I was able to get up to the Conejos in southern Colorado the last 2 days. It is a beautiful river, and it is fishing very well. I got there at the same time as a thunderstorm Monday, and things seemed to shut down.

I got a little wet.
Tuesday (7/16) was a different story. I hiked in from the South Fork trailhead (very) early and Chubbies and Stimulators were super productive. I caught enough fish by 9AM to make a great day, so I thought I would take another run at the meadows. I targeted rising fish for about two hours, and every… single… one I targeted took a green drake emerger. It was a peak fishing experience. I only saw a couple natural drakes, but I heard that trout were keying on them at 10AM every day. They definitely were today. Get there before they are gone.
Please note: results may vary. Water is a little low making fishing more ‘technical’ in the meadows, but not in the gorge.
